Day Thirteen: Recuperation

My secret hope for today was a lazy day in the apartment, but I was not sure what the girly barometer would dictate. Fortunately, we were all on the same wavelength and the girls were content to spend most of the day entertaining themselves chez nous.

The morning began with some fort building:
And, yes, today is Bastille Day, or as the French refer to it, Le Quatorze Juillet. As we are neither French, nor fond of massive crowds that believe showering once a week is an acceptable way of life, we were content to skip the parade and enjoy what we could from the comfort of our apartment:
Next, the girls retired to the couch for some reading and photography practice:
Eliza taking her kindergarten prep seriously:
 Samantha playing la maitresse:
After some quality quiet time, the girls made a fabulous discovery: spotify + camera= endless fun creating music videos. There were many tushies a shakin':
Samantha sneaked in a costume change:
We eventually left the apartment around 3:00pm only to return at 4:00 as the streets were mobbed and the heat was oppressive. As the girls watched "Tangled,"I was glued to my computer screen watching a fairy tale about a tall, handsome Prince who flies across a continent to rescue his beloved:

Just wanted to be sure Kenny landed safe and sound. It's not like I was counting the minutes, miles, kilometers, and altitude until he rescued me...

While we waited for our knight in shining armor, we passed the time in our favorite candy shop. The girls enjoyed picking out some treats while I enjoyed the air conditioning:
We returned to the apartment and were playing an intense game of "Guess Who" when someone knocked at the door. Guess who?!
Even though the four of us were exhausted from our various adventures, we managed to summon the strength to catch the fireworks, which begin at 11:00pm. We walked to a nearby bridge:
And we found a good place to spot the Eiffel Tower far in the distance:
 La lune:
It wasn't the greatest spot for fireworks viewing, but definitely the better choice for an exhausted family. And the girls were still quite impressed:
