Before venturing out into the city, we started our day with some breakfast and playtime:
By the time late morning rolled around, we were finally ready to head into town. Fortunately, there was some good reading material available on the train:
Our very first double-decker bus ride, definitely the highlight of the trip:
Running through Green Park near Buckingham Palace; Samantha loves herself some open fields:
Picnic courtesy of Pret-a-Manger, which can be found on almost every block of downtown London. Although we have a few in DC, happy the day will be when one arrives in Bethesda. Yum...
More fancy running:
And fancy cartwheels:
Waiting for the Queen to let us in:
This guy takes himself way too seriously:
Romping in the plagyround near Buckingham Palace:
Hanging out for awhile in St. James park. Watching the ducks in the pond proved to be very entertaining:
We had a blast watching their little antics. Especially when their little tushies shot up into the air:
Heading to Trafalgar Square:
Double-decker bus ride number two, a very inexpensive form of entertainment and sightseeing:
Checking out the Tower of London:
We had to settle for a single story bus for our final bus ride, but at least Eliza got to ride in the luggage seat. Quite appropriate for a child who comes with loads of extra baggage:
Reading the evening paper on the train home:
Squishing our bums into the car on our final leg of the journey home:
We could not have asked for a better day in London, and we owe it all to our extraordinary tour guides, Matthias and Claudia. We only hope we can return the favor when they come to visit us in Washington!
